THE FUNGI IN THE DOVES (THE PENICILIUM) BY THE DR GUILLERMO HORACIO PANETTIERI
- 03.04.2002

Varieties of fungi exist that can get to harm the doves, in this I articulate I am going to them to comment the PENICILIUM.

The Penicilium, is a variety of fungi that can be developed in cereals, when these have a percentage of humidity superior to 13% and one temperature of tropical type.

Different varieties from Penicilim exist, some of these are carrying of toxins (micotoxinas) that act intoxicating the doves. Its place of action is coverall in the liver and the kidneys and also in the immune system. In order to prevent the development of these fungi it is necessary to have cereals with inferior percentage of 11% of humidity or, also are possible to be added to cereals, inhibitors of fungi.

Cases that the fungus in if it directly produces a micosis in the doves, most important is to find out if are not known the variety of found Penicilim is producing or not of toxins.
In case the doves have consumed food contaminated with this fungus, it recommends the change of the food and the use of hepatoprotectores.
